She acts like a mother figure for all, and especially for my friend, which I am thankful for. To know she has someone looking out for her makes me content as I’m usually far away from her. Nic is at the later stage of life, but that does not mean she is old. She embraces life fully doing things for her, like travelling to Egypt’s coast to Scuba dive for four months, extending her training.
Although she has responsibilities at home and newly found boyfriend she still did what she had planned to do. She has easily moulded into her new environment and I must admit this is not hard to do as this place Dhahab is filled with days by the sea, great food, sun and good company. Most of her good friends here are 10 years younger than her but that doesn’t stop her from fitting in the slightest.
Her life has been far from quiet and she is open about her past experiences and I am thankful for that. She is relaxed when chatting even when we talk about sex, men and the difference between men and women when having lots of sexual partners. Nicole was married for 7 years, which in my eyes is an accomplishment. I don’t intrude on the reasons for the break up, as it is not my place as a new friend, or a writer to pry into negative experiences.
Coming from England she definitely does not fit the stereotype. After four months in the sun she has an all round tan, and dark hair. You could actually pick her as Mediterranean or Spanish. She is also fit from her swimming instructing and her love of sports. As she didn’t do too well in her final high school exams she decided to go to beauty school and from this two years of study made her not want to be a beautician. She had a span of other jobs from then on but it wasn’t until she started swimming instructing that she found her niche.
Her years have included a lot of travel including a 6-month round the world with her boyfriend. She has a lot of enthusiasm and the will to learn. She tells me that because she never went to University she feels a little less capable than others; therefore she embarks on new course all the time.
A general feeling of warmth comes from Nicole and I’m glad to have met her in this crazy place called Dhahab. I hope she finds who she is looking for.
