Lauren- 23 I met her at Byron in the bathrooms of the Beach Hotel…
She left the toilet door open. Obviously she was a tad drunk and had no cares about the people around her. She continued to prance out of the cubicle and face the mirror repeatedly saying ‘Look at me I’m such a dag… Such a dag!’
The girls I stood with starred at her. She turns and says how beautiful we all are, and that she too was indeed beautiful. That everyone was beautiful in their own way. She had a air about her. A crazy yet peaceful outlook on the way of life and was just out to have a little fun. And as she put it, ‘I don’t give a shit! All I want is some bourban and sex’. What more do you need?
While the other girls, who have grown up in suburban shire of NSW, gave a distasteful look of disgust, I looked upon her in a different way. She had a good heart and I felt she wasn’t at all a bad person. She was just someone that had found her own happiness away from the destruction of normal existence.
At 23 she did have rough, tough skin that pulled past problems to the surface. As much as she would like to keep on drinking, smoking and not caring about the world, she would probably most likely like to solve her problems and pains from the past.
She was so open. She went to the boys on the next table and asked for a cigarette and they just stared the same stare. The stare of negative reaction. Really they are just not used to this kind of personality appearing so open and free. And I'm not sure people will ever change. I'd like to keep that open to debate though, as some people accept others more freely than some.
