Miles -
Miles came and wanted to have a fullfilling life but only found hardship, that he somewhat gave to himself. His mother was a coke addict, and his father kicked him out with his brother at age 15. At the age of 23 he managed to get a job, but he really did not have his heart in building. Nor anything else for that matter. He wakes up every morning with shaking hands as he lights his first cigarette. Some days he can’t seem to get out of bed at all, which doesn’t seem to impress his boss. This turned into a few days a week, and then he didn’t have to go to work at all anymore as he was fired.
He comes into the pub, still unemployed and asks for a beer. Always a fosters. And I wonder if its because he can’t actually go without. Deep down he knows he’s an alcoholic but its not even the start of his problems as with the booze comes cocaine. The other problem is I see his girlfriend and how quickly she is getting pulled into it all. She has a good heart that is being ruined by him, even though he loves her. Instead of going to the movies, or out to dinner he takes her to a mates place and lines up all night talking a whole load of crap until they run out and go on a mad search for more. There’s always more and more as it runs out soon enough, and Miles can never be satisfied.
When someone tries to glass his brother, he beats him to a pulp and girlfriend finally leaves in a huff. I hope for her sake she leaves him for good. But I can see it in her eyes she doesn’t want to be alone, and anything is better than being without. Maybe shes already in too deep.
