Max

Max, late 20 something... wanted to be a miner. Of course he didn't want to be a miner for the purpose of digging and exploring underground.. I'm not sure many people do. He wanted to do it for the big bucks he could acquire.
I met him with Jerry, diving under the waves of Byron Bay and he seemed very quite and reserved at first. After a drink he came out of his shell and later he came way out of his shell when he sucumas we bed to some drugs.
Now back to the mining job... Max had to have a drug test 3 months after the Blues and Roots festival to even be considered for the job. Guess what he didn't pass the drug test and is now still in Byron being his own individual self.
Obviously he does have other skills. He is a chef, and Byron never has a shortage of restaurant jobs with its ever growing tourist population.
He has long hair, and tanned skin and funny looking smile most of the time. He helps Jerry out at the markets and so any time we trek up the Byron I usually see this character just out and about. Always friendly, never snobby or rude. True aussies that have good souls to invite us strangers into their fun.
So as we became friends with these fellas, we didn't realise it would be such a big problem for Max's girlfriend to accept us. All me and my friend remember is being at a lovely cafe having breakfast when all of a sudden she begins to snap our ears off with 'you go near my boyfriend and I'll come and hit you both!' ahh crazy! Did we run from them then! We really did not make friends to steal her boyfriend. We just simply made friends.
i hate it how there is this thing about girls and guys being friends and some people can't accept their is no attraction or more to the story. We were just traveling for a festival and wanted to make friends to enrich the trip.. Not to get in guys pants. Thinking back I think it could have been the photo that me, Max and my friend posed for in this promotions tent. Maybe evidence is what got us in trouble. Maybe I can't blame her for getting a bit angry at her boyfriend but never did she have to tell us where to go. Crazy crazy lady that needs to learn to hold her anger in and take it out on the person that is involved... Poor Max!
So Max is still in Byron doing his thing. I'm sure to see him next time I'll go up that way. Max never went to Perth for the mining job but his girlfriend did go to New Zealand. Devil girl is gone. I'm glad Max was the one that stayed and not her thats for sure.
Lesson learnt don't hang out and have photos with guys with girlfriends. But don't ever be afraid to make friends with guys with girlfriends. If that makes any sense at all!
